There was a good article in the Edmonton Journal with a huge picture of our hiking group, Chiks in the Sticks. I'm slowly preparing for this hike, although I've slowed on training over the past few weeks. I'm both excited and scared about this venture into the woods with the grizzlies and the wolves. I'm more concerned about my ability to deal with the huge elevation gains and losses than the wildlife. Hopefully I'll have lots of pictures to post.

Less than two weeks until our first trip to Skoki. We'll be leaving on the 23rd.

Oo, you're in that! Cool!

You'll probably notice the change in elevation, but I doubt it'll really bother you too much, expecially if you've been training. No one I've ever hiked with has had any problems.

I'm not concerned about lung capacity or lack of breath. What I'm concerned about is muscle strain and blisters. I hate climbing up hills and there is a ton of elevation gain and loss on the two trips we have planned.

Aaah. Yeah, that bugs me a bit - the muscle strain. If you're gone for a few days, the movement should keep you from stiffening, though. My best advice for blisters is to carry duct tape and tape your feet *before* heading out. You would be surprised how well it works.
