Weather and Fitness
On Friday, a friend and I were out in the dog park enjoying the 20C weather. We were starting to head home and were about half way across the field when, looking behind us, there was a huge, black billowing cloud of either dust or rain moving rapidly towards us on the other side of the park; it was so thick that we couldn't see through it. Two things went through our heads - tornado or dust storm. Either one wasn't very pleasant and we started running towards the residential area in case we needed to rapidly get to shelter.
I think I could have run all the way home, if needed. Although definitely running on adreneline, I'm fitter now than when I was 18 yrs old. In a little under two weeks, I'll be doing my first 8k "run", although I'll only be hiking it with a 50lb backpack. My goal by the end of the summer is to do a 5k run and actually run/jog the whole thing. Now all I need is some more scary, black, billowing clouds following me around to keep me in shape.
For the record, it was just a dust storm.

Bravo!
On my side of the city, I've been switched to working 9-6, but I've been getting up at my regular time of 6:30, so I decided to use my morning at the gym before work, where I don't have to worry about wife and kid...

Good for you, getting fit! Feels good, dunnit? (Positive reinforcement has helped me stay fit for longer, the couple times I've gotten exercise for over a month or two... although you'd think feeling better while in better shape would be enough positive feedback!)
run, run, run

I'm just starting to learn about running and the culture that surrounds it. I'm not sure I'll ever be up to running marathons or even half-marathons, but we'll see what I can do.
It is amazing what proper equipment can do. I've got a new non-cotton t-shirt to wear when I'm working out and I feel much cooler and cleaner now. New non-cotton socks were tested out yesterday at the race and they performed way better than my normal cotton sports socks.
Anyway, I'm glad I'm starting to get into this. Now the hard part will be to stay motivated even when work gets crazy.
I'll try to get some pictures posted soon, but no promises.
Marthon Ganbarimasu!
