Well, today is one of those days I feel tired and cranky and I need to complain. Placed behind a cut tag for your protection:

As much as I love teaching, today was a constant battle with the kids. Midterms start on Thursday and they seem to be more silly and talkative than ever before. Grr...

The weather has been an improvement. Instead of -40C (aka -40F), it was positively balmy at -15C. I'm still feeling housebound/stir-crazy, though. I need to get out and about. I was hoping to go to the mountains next weekend to visit the boy but it might all be foiled by my girl's basketball team having a tournament that weekend.

I just want a holiday. I didn't really get one at Christmas preparing for the new job and visiting with the boy. All I want is some time away from it all. Summer seems very far away at 5 month. Even spring holiday will be crazy busy with Japanese students visiting.

Do I deserve to complain? No. I'm actually pretty happy with my life. I'm just feeling tired and cranky and stressed. Bah.

(console) Some days are like that. Complain away and hopefully things other than the weather will improve.

I know my days will improve. I'm usually very happy with my job but I just felt a need to vent. It didn't help that I had a headache and was looking at all the correcting I needed to get done (and ended up not finishing).

Still, the weather is good, isn't it? I can't get enough of these sunny days (and it was *so* warm today!)!

Wow, I'm so glad my kids don't do mid-terms! I hope things get better soon.

My days will improve; it's just hard to see sometimes. I need very different classroom management skills here than I did in Japan and I'm learning. I remember how hard it was initially teaching in Japan but, over there, I didn't have to worry about whether or not I had a job the following school year; I knew they couldn't fire me. Here, I need to be good at my job to secure the full-time position next year.

I tend to be a quiet person which doesn't always go over so well in junior high (although sometimes it goes over surprisingly well). I also know I can't be someone I'm not and the kids will see through that, too.

As I said, I'm learning. :)

I think you *deserve* a holiday. Here's to ... Family Day ... ?

I wish 'I' had a teacher like you when I was in junior high....

Oh no, you don't. I can be positively evil in the classroom.

And you're assuming I was some kind of little angel? I seem to remember almost all my teachers being on the verge of retirement...set in their ways and perpetually cranky. The younger teachers were always the better ones.

Enjoy the nice weather in the latter part of this week. Give us a shout if you're looking for something to do.

*hugs*

Major comfort mojo your way, hun...

I remember junior high. I remember an attractive social studies teacher. I remember her overhearing the other boys' lewd comments about the herself and she would leave the classroom crying. Yikes!

With spring coming up, teen hormornes are going into overdrive... Good luck!
