I have talked with a few of you out there about the University of Saskatchewan's research into hardy, zone 2 fruit trees and bushes. In my search to see where you can buy the plants, though, all I could find was DNA Gardens which seemed a little far to travel just to buy a bush. There is actually a place just east of Sherwood Park by the Blackfoot that sells them, including the new "fruit of the future", the haskap aka edible honeysuckle aka honeyberry.

I definitely recommend visiting Shallow Creek Nurseries - knowledgeable, friendly, and good prices.

We just bought a variety of cherry varieties at Hole's this weekend (shrub-type varieties that grown in thick, because we wanted to replace the now partially destroyed back fence with something that will grow in thick enough to provide privacy as well as fruit), but I definitely want to check that place out. The idea of Kiwi in my back yard appeals a lot!
